Abstract:
MONITOR delivers powerful capabilities for performance troubleshooting, capacity planning and load balancing. This tutorial offers a series of specific, practical examples. You will learn how to use MONITOR effectively as an interactive tool and for collecting, reporting and playback. You will see which factors are most important and discover how to use MONITOR for trending and for comparing alternative approaches. This session will benefit newcomers to OpenVMS including those who have only a cursory knowledge of MONITOR. For those who are already experienced with using MONITOR interactively, this session will bring to light some non-obvious aspects of MONITOR that have proven the most useful in actual operation. Attendees will be able to apply these techniques on their own systems as soon as they return to the office.

Objectives:
How to use MONITOR's interactive capabilities most effectively by identifying the most useful statistics
 
How to use MONITOR to detect trends
 
How to use MONITOR to compare alternative approaches  

Prerequisites for attendees:
Beginner knowledge of OpenVMS and an interest in OpenVMS Performance
