ORACLE & OpenVMS: The Products, The Relationship

Abstract:
This session will discuss in detail the Oracle/OpenVMS products that have recently begun shipping (in the November 1999 timeframe) as well as products on the imminent horizon. These will include Data Server products, Web Application Servers and Client Tools. This session will also address the commitment between Oracle and Compaq's OpenVMS organization and their shared goal to deliver quality products in a timely fashion. Focus will be given to the Automated Porting Effort, which closed the gap between UNIX-based product releases and OpenVMS-based product releases. Products to be discussed will be from the Oracle8 family as well as the Rdb family.

Objectives:
Understand the new Oracle/OpenVMS products and their functionality
 
Understand the efforts being made by both companies to deliver Oracle/OpenVMS products in a timely fashion.
 
Understand the continuing commitment shared by both companies and Understand their plans for capitalizing on advances in database and AlphaServer technologies technologies  

Prerequisites for attendees:
An understanding of their company's or university's plans for their database platforms and an interest in the status of Oracle/OpenVMS products.

Required Skill Level:
Intermediate
