FASST (Fibre Attached Storage Server Technology), Network Attached Storage Server Solutions
Topic Area:
Track: Enterprise Solutions
Topic: Storage
Type:  Breakout Session

Schedule:
11/08/99   03:00 PM     Duration: 90 Min.     Room: 10

Presenter:
Andrew Linnell
CustomSystems' Storage Consultant, Compaq Computer Corporation

Abstract:
This session presents the new storage server family that combines the technologies of network attached storage (NFS) and storage area networks. FASST will have members for OpenVMS similar to the StorageWorks product, SWXNA, as well as members for Tru64 UNIX and NT environments. This product will enable an ENSA Storage Area Network to share files, even if the hosts are heterogeneous. FASST will also act as the high speed backup engine for the SAN, relieving the application servers and the network of the backup task.
