Abstract:
This course is designed for network administrators or engineering staff who have been tasked with deploying Windows NT Workstation /Windows 2000 Professional in an enterprise setting. The course will cover Microsoft's unattended deployment model, teaching participants how to go beyond the simple installation scripts to create fully customized installations of NT, to include: 1. Disk preparation techniques and upgrade paths 2. Complete OS customization and tuning 3. Establishing COMPLETE security templates 4. Adding custom software packages wholly unattended 5. Adding custom devices(nic, video, etc.), to include Sound Cards 6. Editing and manipulating installation files & custom .INFs 7. Use of NT Resource Kit tools/freeware tools 8. Latest tools for deploying Windows 2000 Professional 9. NT Deployment strategies

Objectives:
Create fully customized, secure, ready-to-use installations of Windows NT 4.0 and 2000 using a completely automated deployment model.
 
Understand the scripting technology used in the MS unattended model, learn how to work around the weak points to create exceptionally customized installations.
 
Learn which NT resource kit/freeware tools can be used to maximize the potential of your installations. Identify the core NT installation files and learn how to manipulate them to further customize the install process.  

Prerequisites for attendees:
Experience with the Windows NT Operating System, NT 4.0 & 2000 Functional knowledge of NT's OS architecture, to include the System Registry

Required Skill Level:
Intermediate
