Computer Operations at the Heart of IT Management in Heterogeneous Environments
Topic Area:
Track: Enterprise Solutions
Topic: System Management
Type:  Breakout Session

Schedule:
11/08/99   11:30 AM     Duration: 60 Min.     Room: 15B

Presenter:
Thierry Manissol
CEO - ORSYP US, ORSYP

Abstract:
Don't let production constraints weigh upon your policy decisions. In a world of globalization, mergers and acquisitions, IT organizations are subject to faster change. Computer Operations are at the heart of this change and their management in increasingly heterogeneous environments and are becoming more complex, expensive and time consuming. Consequently, IT Managers shy away from making IT policy decisions which imply substantial reorganization of production. This presentation aims to make you aware of what is really at stake in the management of mission critical production in an heterogeneous environment, and to help you break free from inherent constraints, to be able to achieve efficient IT management. Job scheduling tools are often central to the satisfaction of such aims, but not just in their primitive form. To break free from production constraints, the company needs tools that offer functional scope far in excess of simple batch process automation. The solution must be flexible, enabling IT Managers to choose the hardware configuration best suited to Corporate needs. The solution must be open, so it can integrate with any type of software environment. But most important of all, the solution should introduce concepts which add real value to production management, directly contributing to savings in cost and time, increased systems availability and improved throughput, as well as perceptible increases in IT quality and productivity. This presentation will describe such tools, using real life experiences and testimonies to illustrate each point. You will learn how to increase the efficiency of your production services by breaking away from inherent constraints. At the end of the day, this will save you both time and money and lead to more effective and productive IT Management.

Objectives:
Understand why Computer Operations' efficiency is vital in heterogeneous environments.

Learn how to break free from Production's inherent constraints, for an easier and more flexible management of Computer Operations.

Save money and time, and improve overall IT management performance.

Prerequisites for attendees:
This presentation is targetted towards Operations Managers, Operations Directors, Systems Managers as well as IT Managers.

Required Skill Level:
Advanced
