Compaq's New Component Enabling Technology

Phil Hudson
Software Engineer, OpenVMS, Compaq Computer Corporation

Abstract:
If you are looking for an easy way to connect existing OpenVMS applications to PC clients and/or web technologies, come hear what Compaq's new component enabling technology can offer. Currently code-named "Web Middleware", and planned for release in early 2000, this is a GUI-based tool that will automatically generate the code needed to expose existing 3GL business logic through standard component technology. Web Middleware provides an easy-to-use mechanism through which Alpha or VAX OpenVMS applications can be connected with any of the numerous component-aware Windows and web development tools (Visual Basic, VC++, Active Server Pages, etc.) This session explains Web Middleware's capabilities and includes a demonstration of component-enabling an application.
